"Once you are overweight, your chances of becoming a father is very small, because the quality of the sperm to be ugly," said Dr. William Roudebush, from a fertility clinic in Atlanta, USA, which analyzed 500 male sperm, as it had been contained in the Compass some time ago. Dr Williams and colleagues at Reproductive Biology Associates, successfully found a direct correlation between the BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) or body mass index with the volume and quality of sperm. You could measure the BMI by dividing weight (kg) by the square of height (meters).

Someone said to be obese when BMI above 30 have, in other words the person is overweight by 20%. "Once a man is allowed to increase their BMI, was directly related to their semen parameters," Dr. Roudebush. Researchers say this, if you are obese then your sperm count is far below the level required to fertilize the female egg cell.

Even if you manage to fertilize an egg of your partner, then chances are your partner having a miscarriage is very large, because the poor sperm quality. This influence does not only occur in very obese men, but also on a rather fat man.

This study seems to explain why the number of infertile increased along with the increasing number of men who are overweight. The following categories BMI (kg/m2) and disease risk.

Underweight <> 25, Pre-obese 25.0 - 29.9 kg/m2 Escalate, I Obese 30.0 - 34.9kg/m2 Medium, Obese II 35.0 - 39.9 kg/m2 Dangerous, Obese III> 40.0 kg/m2 Very Dangerous.
